- The dispute began when Sugus asked the group to lower their voices, leading to the students making offensive gestures and remarks, including showing the middle finger.
- Police fined five of the six Italians 1,000 baht (£22.50) each for insulting another person, with one student receiving an additional 1,000 baht fine for an indecent act.
- During a meeting at Samrae metropolitan police station, both parties agreed to drop further legal action and remove all related content from social media.
- The Italian Embassy in Bangkok also issued a public apology for the incident, condemning the students' inappropriate behaviour and expressing regret to the Thai people.
