A woman has a severe warning for her audience: Don’t go to Diana Beauty Spa in New York City, lest you want your hair pulled out of your scalp.
In a video with over 289,000 views, Lucia (@wanderlustlucia) described her painful and jarring experience going to the spa located near Chinatown. According to her testimony, the business ripped out “chunks” of her hair, leading to severe damage.
“This is the end of my hair that’s hanging on by a thread. Clumps of my hair are coming out. It’s literally in one knot. They’ve ripped out masses of my hair. Do not go there. Whatever you do. It was the most painful, excruciating, horrible experience I’ve ever had,” she said, while showing the visible damage from roots to ends. “Literally, they’ve ripped out all of it, and this hanging is another knot that originally was all connected.”
But that’s not the worst part. Lucia paid for the service, giving the business $63 for “unbrushable” hair that she could barely touch.
So, how could a spa in one of the United States’ most populated cities offer such a bafflingly bad treatment?
The viral sensation—$65 dollar facials
To many people, Diana Beauty Spa is a “hidden gem,” not a hair-scalper. Many content creators have posted about the Chinatown beauty center, saying it’s a great place to get a $49 treatment or a $65 facial.
An interesting thing to note about Diana Beauty is that appointments are only available via text message. This is possibly because it’s more of an old-school business. They recently created an Instagram page, but influencers who praised the company mentioned the fact that it had no “website or social media.” That means that, for the most part, clients find out about the spa through other clients’ social media posts or word of mouth.
Some influencers described it as “an amazing activity to do with a family member, partner or friend,” with “hard to beat” pricing to match, completely opposite to Lucia’s negative experience. Reviewers claim that the Bojin treatment works like a charm for them.
Diana Beauty Spa—an alleged problem spot
Lucia isn’t the only person to voice a complaint with the New York beauty treatment business. Yelp has a fair share of negative reviewers voicing some serious concerns about the company.
Take a review from Yelp that reads, “This place gave me serious scars after. I was debating to write a review because it is a small business. But at the same time I had such a terrible experience.” In the review, the poster describes getting extractions on her dry skin in an incredibly rough manner. The result left painful, swollen wounds on her face that she posted as an attached photo.
Another reviewer said that the company didn’t consider how much pressure they put on clients’ skin while giving treatments, leading to bruising.

Other two-star reviewers described their appointments coming late or not getting enough time for their Bojin treatments. While the company has a fair amount of contrasting five-star reviews, it’s difficult to ignore the severe claims made by some one-star posters.
The Mary Sue has reached out to Lucia via TikTok direct message and Diana Beauty Spa via text message. We’ll let you know if either party responds.
