'It’s going to be chaos, but the best kind': Olly Murs vows to be more hands-on with baby number two

Olly Murs says he is determined to take a more active role at home as he and wife Amelia prepare to welcome their second child next month.

The pop star, 40, admitted that touring shortly after the birth of their daughter Madison – affectionately known as Madi – in April 2023 meant he missed out on some of the early night feeds and nappy changes.

“I’m going to be around much more this time, and I can’t wait for the challenges of having two under two,” he said. “Amelia is such a calming presence and takes it all in her stride – I’ve learnt so much from her about being more patient and taking your time when it comes to having little ones.”

Murs, who married Amelia in July 2023, is currently promoting his latest single Dancing on Cars alongside his Heart FM presenting role with Mark Wright.

The Essex-based couple have also been named as the newest ambassadors for Marks & Spencer’s Parent Hood club.

The Parent Hood is a free community scheme, part of M&S’s Sparks loyalty programme, designed to help parents of children under two connect with others in the same stage of life.

Every Tuesday morning, participating M&S cafés host informal gatherings where parents can enjoy a hot drink and a free slice of cake or fruit pot while sharing experiences.

Members also receive 10% off baby grows until their child’s second birthday, as well as tailored offers and seasonal events.

Murs said he first heard about the club from Amelia, adding that they “can’t wait to get started on sharing their world as parents to two young babies, including the chaos and all that goes with it.”

Amelia, a fitness content creator, has attended the Tuesday meet-ups since Madison was born.

“The sleepless nights, the times you have to turn back just as you’re leaving the house for a nappy change – all the joys,” she said.

“It’s great to talk to people in the same boat. You come away feeling you’re not the only one finding it exhausting, and you pick up useful tips along the way.”

Murs added: “It’s going to be chaos, but the best kind.”
