A woman is urging Walmart to bring back the price tags in lieu of pushing people toward scanning items on the app.
TikTok user Elizabeth Erin (@e.erinb) posted a video with her complaint earlier this week. “Walmart, you have these really cute pajamas and I was gonna buy them,” she says to start the video. “Until.”
Elizabeth Erin locates the tag on the pajamas in question, but there isn’t a price at the bottom of the tag where it would normally be. “Why are you doing this?” she asks. “No prices on anything. Because you want me to use your stupid app.”
“Do you realize that you’re missing out on sales because somebody in one of your departments said this would be a great way to sell clothes or use your app?” Elizabeth Erin asks. “Your plan sucks. And you’re missing a sale right now and I’m sure plenty of others, because I’m not taking the time to scan your app.”
In her opinion, this is asking too much. “Honestly, it’s rude,” she says. “I don’t want to go searching for prices. That is one of the things that I liked about Walmart is the fact that I could just see the price. And now guess what? There’s literally nothing in the store that you can just see a price.”
Viewers React to Walmart’s Missing Price Tags
In the caption, Elizabeth Erin writes, “Walmart, are you trying to pull a fast one and change the prices at a whim??? I can’t even fathom what Walmart was thinking when they decided removing the prices from their clothing was a great idea. Stop overthinking it and stop trying to force people to use your app!”
In the comments, viewers agreed that the situation with Walmart’s price tags is frustrating.
One user speculated, “It’s so they can jack up the prices. They’re already under a lawsuit for jacking up meat prices.” This refers to a lawsuit Walmart settled last year related to overcharging customers for certain produce and prepared items.
A second user said, “The app isn’t helping either. I wanted some of those cute little soft soaps with the Halloween faces. The tag on the shelf said $1. The price they were on my Scan & Go was $1.24.”
Another person said, “I’m going to find out at the register. If I don’t want it they will put it all back.”
Someone else explained, “It’s a tariff thing. They changed prices.”
@e.erinb Walmart, are you trying to pull a fast and change the prices at a whim??? I can't even fathom what Walmart was thinking when they decided removing the prices from their clothing was a great idea. Stop overthinking it and stop trying to force people to use your app! We don't want to scan an item and we don't want to use Walmart pay! STOPPPPPP….just put the prices back and get tap pay. Good grief. ? #walmart #walmartfinds #dumb #fypシ゚ #pricetag ♬ original sound – ?~Elizabeth Erin~?
What Is Going On With Walmart’s Price Tags?
Fox 5 Atlanta covered this issue in a story at the beginning of September. In the report, the station revealed that price tags are, in fact, missing from Target and Walmart stores in the region. Walmart told the U.S. Sun that it is switching up its labeling process due to the Trump administration’s tariffs.
