It's A Sin viewers praise 'incredible' Keeley Hawes in 'tear-jerker' final episode

It's A Sin came to a heartbreaking end on Friday night and viewers were in bits as the story finished with another tragic death.

The five-part series, written and created by Russell T Davies, has captured the nation with a plot that follows the lives of a group of gay men and their friends who lived during the HIV/AIDS crisis in the eighties and nineties.

The fifth and final episode ended with the sad death of Rithie Tozer (played by Olly Alexander) and gave a glimpse of how his close knit circle of friends dealt with his awful passing.

Fans of the show were stunned to find out that Ritchie's mum Valerie (Keeley Hawes) let her only son die without his best friend Jill getting the chance to see him one last time.

Valerie struggled to accept that her son was gay and felt immense guilt for not realising sooner.

Despite the horrific actions of her character, viewers were quick to praise Keeley's performance as the mother in denial.

Another tweeted: "#ItsASin is remarkable. Crying my eyes out. @Misskeeleyhawes is brilliant in this ep. Such amazing dialogue. Takes you right back there. Incredible."

A third added: "Keeley Hawes in #ItsASin - that‘s it. That’s the tweet. She deserves everything for this incredible performance."

A fourth person penned: "Valerie, you heartless b**ch. Amazing acting from Keeley Hawes but what an evil thing to do to Ritchie in his final moments and to his friends #ItsASin."
