ISL: Blasters draw despite Stewart wonder strike

Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC went into their Boxing Day clash hoping to go level on points with ISL leaders Mumbai City FC.

Despite that not happening with the match ending 1-1 at Goa's Tilak Maidan on Sunday, the contest will remain in the memories for long thanks to an exquisite strike from Greg Stewart.

Blasters' Harmanjot Singh Khabra gave away a free-kick for a foul on Boris Singh on the left flank in the 13th minute and Stewart showed up for the set-piece duty. Blasters defence, and even his teammates, waited for the Scot to deliver a cross into the box, but the Jamshedpur star had other plans.

With a swing of his left foot from around 35 yards out, the 31-year-old curled a shot around the one-man wall that rested in the back of the net after hitting the inside of the post and evading the outstretched arms of Blasters custodian Prabhsukhan Singh Gill. However, Sahal Abdul Samad found Blasters' equaliser in the 27th minute and the game remained 1-1 at the final whistle. The Kerala side sit third, level on 13 points with Jamshedpur and two behind Mumbai.
