Isaac Brizuela makes Celtic claim as Mexico winger reveals his Hoops ambition

Mexico winger Isaac Brizuela has revealed he hopes Celtic try to sign him again.

The 29-year-old has claimed the Scottish champions made a move for him four years ago when he played for Toluca and Ronny Deila was Hoops boss.

The transfer never materialised, according to Brizuela, because Celtic refused to match the selling club’s asking price.

But he has not given up on his ambition of playing for the Glasgow giants in the Scottish Premiership.

Brizuela, who joined Chivas instead for £5million, told Medio Tiempo, "I heard about the rumours (of Celtic's interest) but I didn't want to think about them too much as I didn't want to get distracted.

"In the end, I'm not sure if they (Celtic) spoke to a director, but when I was with Toluca Celtic did come in for me and the club didn't let me go, because Celtic didn't want to pay what Toluca wanted."

"And being here in Chivas I'm not sure if a (Celtic) scout came over or has come over recently but I won't give up hope.

"I know I am of a certain age but I won't give up hope that such a moment could come."

Brizuela has been capped 14 times by Mexico and has won two league titles, two Mexican Cups, a SuperCup title and the CONCACAF Champions League.
