Is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 waterproof?
Best answer: The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE comes with an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance, just like the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Samsung still has to raise the IP rating bar on foldables
The Razr Plus 2023 had dust resistance before Samsung, but Samsung quickly followed with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 by introducing an IP48 rating, where the number '4' stands for protection against solid particles. This was still far from proper dust protection, but it was a step in the right direction.
With much of the industry only now playing catch-up, Samsung is in a great position to raise the bar for foldables. Back in April 2025, Twitter leaker The Galox suggested that the Z Fold 7 could have "improved" water and dust resistance, which led people to believe the Galaxy Flip 7 would, too. However, both devices still boast IP48 ratings.
The reason is likely that it's more difficult to ensure proper water and especially dust resistance with a foldable phone due to the hinge design and folding nature. Thus, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 retains the same IP48 rating as its predecessor, which is still a good thing since you get some protection from both water and larger particles.
Meanwhile, the cheaper Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, modeled after the Galaxy Z Flip 6, also features an IP48 rating, meaning it has the same level of protection as its flagship counterpart.

Beyond that, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 isn't drastically different from the Z Flip 6 besides the usual processor upgrade and new colors. The outer screen of the Z Flip 7 features an edge-to-edge panel, and for the first time, you get Gemini on the Cover Screen, along with a personalized Now Bar and Now Brief on the Flex Window.
The specs of this new outer display aren't anywhere as good as the Razr Ultra, but having a larger panel with more unrestricted functionality will keep fans and new buyers interested.
Another significant change is the software, as the Galaxy Z Flip 7 ships with One UI 8. Samsung has released a public beta for the Galaxy S25 series, and we've given it a test run and come away quite impressed. It's still a work in progress, so you might encounter a few bugs, but we're loving the performance and functional improvements Samsung has made to its core apps like Health, Reminders, Routines, Internet, Calendar, Contacts, and a few others.

Flipping for AI
The Samsung Galaxy Flip 7 is a step-up in its AI game, but it's still worth considering the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which will likely come down in price. If you want improvements in everything from the cover screen to processing speeds, thinner bezel and better photo performance, however, consider upgrading to the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
