Is ISIL facing a cash crunch?

Is ISIL facing a cash crunch?

'The best funded terrorist organistation in the world.' That was how the United States Treasury assessed the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant's (ISIL, also known as ISIS) finances two years ago.

The armed group itself says it had a budget of two billion dollars last year - a figure that can not be independently verified. But now it appears the US-led coalition is having some success in denting ISIL's finances.

So, how much money does ISIL have? And with less in the coffers, for how long can it go on?

Presenter: Martine Dennis

Guests:

Oubai Shahbandar - Senior Strategic Communications Adviser, Qorvis MSL Consultancy Group.

Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi - Fellow at the Middle East Forum.

Patrick Osgood - Kurdistan Bureau Chief for the Iraq Oil Report.
