Irvine mum launches GoFundMe in bid to save beloved Guinea pig's life

A desperate Irvine mum has launched a last-ditch fundraising campaign to save her beloved Guinea pig's life.

Courtney Baird, 22, takes pet rodent Captain shopping with her as therapy for her Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

But she fears her precious furry friend will have to be put down if she can't quickly raise £500 to pay for a lifesaving dental operation.

Captain's back teeth are so long he's stopped eating.

Mum-of-one Courtney has been feeding him with a syringe at three-hour intervals but fears he won't survive long without surgery.

She's set up a go-fund me page in the hope of raising enough money to cover veterinary bills but insists time is of the essence.

She said: "The vet has told me it needs done urgently but I need support to fund this as its £500 for the operation and medications.

"Captain means the absolute world to me and my family. We've had him for three years and we don't know what we'd do without him.

"I have ADHD and I take him shopping with me because if I don't have him I panic.

"I don't want to have to put him to sleep. He's not just my pet, he's my best friend.

"I'm doing 24 hour care just now because he's not eating. If I don't feed him every three hours with a syringe he will die.

"I really hope I can raise the money but we don't have a lot of time."

A total of £48 has been pledged on GoFundMe to date. To make a donation click here.
