Irish woman makes two changes to kitchen and transforms it for less than €200

An Irish woman amazed people after she shared how she completely transformed her kitchen after making just two changes costing less than €200.

Taking to the social media platform, TikTok @thediyist showered her fans how she changed her light grey kitchen cabinets to sage green and upgraded her countertops for just €160.

The DIY enthusiast started by covering her backsplash, which was a dark grey colour, with green and white print peel.

She shared that the new patterned tiles gave the room a "new and freshened up look."

The creator then focused on her cabinets and began stripping off the laminate before adding the new paint colour.

She opted for a sage green, explaining: "Then I removed the hardware and began removing the laminate from the cupboards.

"I personally found it easier to leave the doors on, but it's personal preference, I guess," reports RSVP.

She continued: "I then set about sanding the doors. This required a lot of sanding and scraping, and many hours were spent on this.

"Once they were fully smooth, I began priming. I used Tikkurilas oil based Ortex primer, and I primed each door twice.

"Then, to the top coat, I used Tikkurilas Everal Aqua, and it was gorgeous. I love the colour. I applied two coats to each cupboard door."

She demonstrated different ways to update your countertops without breaking the bank.

"Next, it was time to upgrade the countertop. I chose DC fix vinyl wrap from Amazon in Ribbek oak," she added.

"I ordered ten metres to allow for any mistakes etc. You'll need a blade and a squeegee to do this.

"Tearing off the backing bit by bit, I used the squeegee to flatten it to the worktop, removing any bubbles as I go."

Her final addition was to replace the hardware on her presses with new gold handles.

She concluded: "I changed up the hardware once the cupboards were back on, and voila. That was it. A complete kitchen revamp for €160."
