Blue skies and warm temperatures will visit Ireland next week, with the mercury expected to hit the teens around the country.

Met Eireann have said a high pressure system will bring sunny spells across the country until the middle of next week.

Today’s weather will see bright spells during the afternoon with some showers in the northwest, but temperatures of between 9-12C will make for a fresh Spring day.

The weather chiefs said the mercury will dip tonight to overnight lows of a chilly 0-3C but it’ll make way for a cool day on Saturday.

Saturday night will be chilly but dry, with a widespread sharp to severe frost away from Northern and Northwestern coastal areas, and patchy mist or fog forming in light winds.

“Cloudier, though in Northern counties with showery outbreaks of rain developing. Highs of 8 to 10C with moderate West to Northwest breezes, fresher along the North coast.

“Some frost in southern counties on Sunday night with temperatures falling close to freezing, but cloudier skies further north should prevent significant frost, but some patchy mist and fog may form.”

Monday will see the temperature reach up to 13C with sunny spells and well needed breaks in the cloud.
