Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann predicts wet and windy Wednesday night after mostly dry day

Ireland will stay mostly dry on Wednesday - but heavy showers are forecast overnight.

Met Eireann is predicting a mostly sunny morning before scattered showers in the west spread eastwards.

However, parts of the east will stay dry throughout the day. Highest temperatures will range from 11C to 14C.

A forecaster said: "This morning will be mainly dry with good sunshine. There'll be scattered showers in the west.

"These will extend eastwards today and will mainly affect the western half of the country.

"Eastern coastal counties will stay dry. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with moderate southwest winds, strengthening on the west coast later."

It's shaping up to be a wet and windy Wednesday night for some parts of Ireland.

The national forecaster is expecting winds to pick up, and for heavy showers to affect parts in the west and south. Lows will range between 4C and 8C.

The forecaster added: "Tonight will become quite blustery or windy, especially in coastal areas as south to southwest winds strengthen. Many areas will be mainly dry.

"However, showers will become heavy in western and southern coastal counties. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees."
