Irish Rail confirm timetable changes for St Patrick's Day and double Bank Holiday

Iarnrod Eireann customers are being warned of timetable changes across the St Patrick’s Bank Holiday, with a number of new services in place.

Celebrations will be getting underway in a matter of days and with the extra day off this year, those commuting in and out of Dublin will need to check the amendments for the week.

All routes have been revised for Thursday and Friday this week, with everything listed on the website.

In a statement released today, a spokesperson said: “Iarnrod Eireann wishes to advise customers of the following travel arrangements for the St Patrick's Weekend.

“Please note that there will be a revised schedule on ALL ROUTES on March 17.

“Full details are available on our Journey Planner online, and we advise customers to please check these details before travelling.”

Both DART and Dublin Commuter services will operate a Sunday service, however, there will be extra trains before and after the St Patrick’s Festival Parade.

Tara Street Station will also be closed until 4:00 pm on Thursday to aid Gardaí with their Crowd Control Management Plan.

Customers can use Connolly or Pearse Station instead in Dublin City Centre.

Late night services will also operate as follows, and will serve all stations unless otherwise stated on the day:

  • 00:20hrs Pearse to Maynooth
  • 00:30hrs Pearse to Howth
  • 00:30hrs Connolly to Greystones
  • 00:40hrs Pearse to Dundalk (serving Tara St, Connolly, Howth Junction and then all stations to Dundalk)
  • 00:50hrs Pearse to Kildare

Then on Friday, in line with the new - once-off - public holiday, there will also be an entirely revised schedule in operation on all routes.

Both DART and Dublin Commuter services will operate a Sunday service with minor timetable revisions.

Full details are available on the Journey Planner at www.irishrail.ie.
