Irish Rail adds late-night train services in the run up to Christmas

Irish Rail have released their Christmas timetable with extra late-night train services being added in the in the busy run up to Christmas.

Ahead of the festive party season, Iarnród Éireann has extended their usual schedules to facilitate passengers travelling home after a night out on weekends throughout December.

Additional late-night services will run after midnight on Fridays and Saturdays from this Friday, December 2 and will continue until New Year’s Eve on Saturday, December 31.

However, there will be no late-night services in operation on Christmas Eve or on Friday, December 30.

The services will operate across the DART network, as well as Commuter services to Maynooth, Dundalk, and to Kildare (via the Phoenix Park Tunnel).

You can find the full schedule of planned DART and Commuter services services below:

Late night services - these will operate in December on Fridays and Saturdays; 2nd and 3rd, 9th and 10th, 16th and 17th, and 23rd December

DART services
  • 00:30 and 01:30 from Pearse serving all stations to Howth
  • 00:30 and 01:30 from Connolly serving all stations to Greystones
Dundalk Commuter
  • 00:40 and 01:40 from Pearse serving Tara St, Connolly, and all stations from Howth Junction to Dundalk
Maynooth Commuter
  • 00:20 and 02:00 from Pearse serving all stations to Maynooth
Kildare Phoenix Park Tunnel services
  • 23:50 and 01:50 from Pearse serving all stations to Drumcondra, and all stations from ParkWest to Kildare

New Year’s Eve

Late night Saturday 31st December (after New Year’s Eve concerts):

DART services
  • 01:30 and 02:30 from Pearse serving all stations to Howth
  • 01:30 and 02:30 from Connolly serving all stations to Greystones
Dundalk Commuter
  • 01:40 and 02:40 from Pearse serving Tara St, Connolly, and all stations from Howth Junction to Dundalk
Maynooth Commuter
  • 01:20 and 03:00 from Pearse serving all stations to Maynooth
Kildare Phoenix Park Tunnel services
  • 00:50 and 02:50 from Pearse serving all stations to Drumcondra, and all stations from ParkWest to Kildare

Fares will be charged at normal rates, meaning customers can use Leapcard and buy cash fares for the best value Christmas travel option.

Weekly, monthly and annual season tickets are valid on late night services, so season ticket holders will be able to use the services at no extra charge.

Iarnród Éireann also confirmed that security will be present on these trains to keep customers safe.
