Irish pubs that serve the best and worst pints of Guinness revealed in surprising new study

The age-old debate among the Guinness drinkers of Ireland and abroad is where to find the best-pulled pint - as many take to social media to parade anything less than perfection as an insult to the Irish staple drink.

Many will say it’s home of Dublin - where the first brewery is located - surely has to be where the best of the 'Black Stuff' can be bought, however, new research is suggesting that bars in the West are pouring even better pints.

According to Cassinosource.ie, statista.com figures show the location of the perfect pint of Guinness in Ireland is in Galway, with a total score of 8.53 out of 10.

Taaffe's Bar is noted as a particularly popular choice among locals and visitors, so if you want to test out the theory you should pop down to 19 Shop Street next time you’re in the area.

Coming in at a close second, scoring a more than respectable 8.42, on the chart is Co. Limerick.

Most surprisingly in the results, Ireland’s capital, Dublin - the home of Guinness - only just made it into the top 10, with a score of 7.95 landing it in joint eighth position with Waterford.

Then at the very end of the scale, in the ninth and tenth positions, it’s Armagh and Louth respectively with customers rating their pints as mediocre/ average.’

Daragh Curran, known as ‘the Guinness Guru,’ who's amassed a huge following on social media for his reviews spoke to casinosource.ie and said:

“It’s funny, I don’t often think about where the actual towns/cities rank against each other," the Guinness Guru explained.

"My rankings tend to only concern the pubs themselves. But when put into perspective, the standard of Guinness in Galway was absolutely top tier.

“For me, the city of Galway manages to mesh together the exciting feeling of being in the big smoke with the rural heartbeat of the West.

“If Dublin and Dingle had a lovechild, the child’s name would be Galway."
