Irish Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch denies cast members have 'cold shouldered' JK Rowling over trans comments

Irish Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch says she would work again with the franchise’s author JK Rowling and has denied claims some of the cast have “cold shouldered” Rowling over her trans comments.

Last year Rowling sparked outrage over a series of tweets about menstruation that critics called “transphobic.”

Louth native Lynch, 30, later said she was “so saddened” that trans people felt “abandoned” by Rowling.

Appearing on GBNews’ Breakfast show, Lynch was asked by host Isabel Webster if she’d consider appearing in another Rowling movie.

“How could you not do that? I don’t see how I could not turn that down,” replied Lynch.

She denied a suggestion from Webster’s co-host Eamonn Holmes that some cast members had given Rowling “the cold shoulder over her social views.”

“I wouldn’t say it was the cold shoulder. I think people, there are things we maybe don’t all agree with and don’t understand, I’ve talked to all the cast, they all have great love and respect for her even if they don’t agree with her beliefs.

“I really strongly disagree with the media narrative that there is a rift,” replied Lynch.

“She has her beliefs and she’s doing her thing. We all have strong beliefs and it’s been a very difficult conversation.

"I want there to be healing, I don’t want us to keep fighting.”

Lynch also denied Rowling’s absence from a Potter reunion recently was due to her being “busy writing books” and shouldn’t be viewed as a snub.

“She was never on the sets very often, and she’s still a big part of it,” added Lynch.

Cast members recently reunited for a Harry Potter 20th anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special which aired on New Year’s Day on Sky.
