Irish customers alerted after eight products recalled from popular shopping site before Christmas

Some eight products purchased by people in Ireland have been recalled by a popular global shopping platform.

Wish, a site that sells millions of items, is recalling some items over safety fears.

Among the issues being warned of are a risk of strangulation, choking or electric shock.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission issued the alert to the Irish public on Tuesday.

The body confirmed that a number of Irish people had already bought some of the goods.

Anyone who believes they may have purchased an affected product is urged to discontinue using it and discard them immediately.

People who bought the impacted products from the Wish platform will be alerted by the company of this issue, the CPPC added.

Here are the products being recalled by Wish:

Baby pacifier

The baby pacifier with thermometer is being recalled after the presence of an industrial chemical known as bisphenol A (BPA) was discovered.

There are approximately seven affected products in Ireland.

USB charger

A safety issue identified with a USB charger sold on Wish means it is now being recalled.

The CCPC says that the product is designed in such a way that there is a risk of electric shock due to the insufficient creepage distances and measured clearances for the reinforced insulation.

There are approximately 19 affected products in Ireland.

Outdoor LED Lights

Electric charger transformer

Wish are also recalling one of their electric charger transformers that have already been purchased 22 times in Ireland.

There is a defect in the insulation between the primary and secondary circuits, and the presence of a non-compliant capacitor connecting the two circuits may cause an electric shock.

Child’s mermaid costume

A safety issue has been identified with a child’s mermaid costume which was available on the Wish platform.

There is a risk of strangulation due to the non-detachable cords at the neck on this costume for children.

There are approximately 13 affected products in Ireland.

Child’s Halloween costume

A children's pumpkin Halloween costume is being recalled from Wish as there is a risk of choking due to the possibility the button can be ingested and so causing choking in small kids.

There are approximately seven affected products in Ireland.
