Ireland weather: Unusual conditions set to last until Christmas as surprising change forecast

Ireland is set for surprising weather change with unusual conditions that could last right up until Christmas.

While many of us expect freezing temperatures and perhaps some snow over the festive period, the forecast is set to be significantly different.

While subject to change, current models show largely dry weather in most areas for at least the next 10 days - if not longer.

It marks a significant change when compared to the recent storms and low temperatures that Ireland has experienced.

The forecast will come as good news to those planning outdoor activities ahead of and over Christmas as very little rain is expected.

Weather expert Alan O’Reilly shared the news on his Carlow Weather Twitter account, explaining that the unusual Christmas weather is due to an area of high pressure building over Ireland.

He joked: “Will it ever rain again?”

Met Eireann is also in agreement with what is forecast.

In their latest update, the national forecaster said: “High pressure building from the southeast keeping conditions generally settled for the rest of the week, however it will remain fairly cloudy.”

Looking ahead to next week, which includes Christmas Day, they continued: “High pressure looks to remain in control keeping the weather settled for the early days of next week with temperature near average for the time of year.”
