Ireland still not among top favourites to win World Cup despite Grand Slam glory

Ireland are still not among the two favourites to win the World Cup despite Grand Slam glory.

Andy Farrell's side are the top-ranked team in the world but bookies have two teams ahead of them when it comes to World Cup odds.

Understandably, hosts France are favourites and are priced at 11/4 according to bookmaker Ladbrokes.

Despite their poor form over recent years, New Zealand are still tipped for success and are priced at 3/1.

Ireland are third favourites priced at 4/1 while South Africa and Australia are priced at 9/2.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: Ireland’s historical Grand Slam win over the weekend has really inspired confidence among punters with the boys in green now priced as short as 4/1 to go all the way in the tournament!"
