Ireland's hot weather spell: 25C heat, day it will change and Met Eireann's five-day forecast

Despite the majority of the most recent weekend being rain-swept and a bit of a washout, conditions are set to drastically improve over the coming days.

That's because Met Eireann has forecast that temperatures will fluctuate from 21 to 25 degrees next week with sunshine and above normal temperatures on the way.

In terms of the best day, Wednesday and Thursday are shaping up to be very good with long spells of sunshine and the mercury reaching highs of 25 degrees in parts of the country.

Unfortunately, the temperature won't be as high on Friday with 17 to 22 degrees expected, but early indications suggest that the settled and sunny spell will continue into the weekend, with mostly dry weather expected.

On that note, here's how the next few days are shaping up...

Tonight

Some light drizzle will affect the far southwest. Elsewhere, it's set to be mainly dry with some mist and fog patches developing.

Monday morning and afternoon

A warm morning with good spells of sunshine, however, a few light showers will develop in the afternoon too. Top temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees are on the way with conditions warmest in the west.

Monday night

Dry with clear spells, but mist and fog patches will develop too. Lowest temperatures of 11 of 14 degrees.

Tuesday morning and afternoon

Any lingering mist and fog will quickly clear leaving a largely dry day with warm spells of sunshine.

However, some light showers will develop in the afternoon, with the highest temperatures ranging between 21 to 24 degrees. It's set to be cooler on eastern and southern coasts though.

Tuesday night

Dry with clear spells. Patches of mist and fog will develop too.

Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Wednesday morning and afternoon

A warm, dry and sunny start is forecast with temperatures reaching highs of 21 to 25 degrees.

Wednesday night

Dry with good clear spells and patches of mist and fog. However, it will be cloudier over much of Ulster.

Thursday morning and afternoon

Dry and mostly sunny with the highest temperatures generally fluctuating between 21 to 25 degrees.

It's set to be cloudier in the east and northeast, with the highs varying between 18 to 20 degrees.

Thursday night

Another dry night is expected with clear spells. Mist and fog patches will once again develop, lowest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees, coolest in the east and northeast.

Friday

A dry and sunny start is on the horizon but the odd shower may develop in the afternoon too. Maximum temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees are expected, coolest in the east and mildest in the west.

The weekend

Met Eireann has said: "Early indications suggest that the settled spell will continue into the weekend, with mostly dry weather though there will be showers at times. Temperatures in the high teens or low twenties."
