The latest report on the 14-day incidence rate for Covid 19 in Dublin has been revealed.
Sixteen areas are still well above the national average in the capital which stands at 493 cases per 100,000 population.
The North inner city has the highest incident rate in the capital and currently stands at 778.2 per 100,000 of the population. Currently, 63,612 people live in this LEA.
The LEA with the second-highest 14-day incidence rate is Tallaght South. it currently stands at 640.1 per 100,000 population with 35,465 people living in the area.
Artane/Whitehall has only a slightly lower incidence rate than Tallaght at 625 per 100,000 but has a larger population at 51,156.
Rush/Lusk in North County Dublin has an incidence rate of 620.1 per 100,000 of the population with 34,674 currently living in the area.
Rounding out the top five areas in Dublin with the highest 14-day incidence of Covid-19 is Clondalkin which has a rate of 610.5 cases per 100,000.
Some areas are still managing to keep the Delta variant under control with the likes of Blackrock (243.1), Pembroke (318.1) South-East Inner City (337.4) and Stillorgan (380.2) the lowest areas in the capital.
While the situation in Dublin may not be great, it's far better when compared to border counties.
Carndonagh in Donegal currently has an incidence rate of 2,600 per 100,000, Ballybay - Clones incidence rate is 1,500 and Bailieborough - Cootehill is only slightly lower at 1,400 per 100,000.
