Ipswich Town boss Paul Lambert has commented on the chances of Nottingham Forest striker Daryl Murphy returning to the club.
The Irishman is understood to be available for transfer as new head coach Sabri Lamouchi looks to put his own stamp on the Reds squad.
And that led to speculation among Tractor Boys fans about whether Murphy might head back to Portman Road, where he has previously notched up more than 400 appearances across four separate spells.
Asked if he was interested in the 36-year-old front man, Lambert told the East Anglian Daily Times: “The lad was a good player but I don’t know because he’s older now.
“Money-wise you never know until wages get put on the table, but people need to get their heads around that we won’t be getting masses.
“That’s not a problem. The club has spent a hell of a lot of money over the years, but we’ve got the young guys coming through the academy.

“We’re a good side, even though they’re young.
“I’m really happy with the guys and the way they’ve performed but if we can try to get one or two in to give them a boost then we will try.”
Lambert is said to want to bolster his attacking options, having lost Ellis Harrison, Will Keane and Collin Quaner this summer.
Forest will look to move on a number of players as they look to trim a top-heavy squad before the window closes.
Jason Cummings, Zach Clough and Gboly Ariyibi are likely to end up heading elsewhere, while the Reds are also believed to be willing to listen to offers for Liam Bridcutt.
