IOPC probing ‘other allegations’ against chief constable who abruptly quit

Chris Noble

Christopher Noble, the former Chief Constable of Staffordshire Police, resigned on Tuesday the day before a misconduct hearing was due to begin.
A panel on Thursday subsequently found the allegations against Mr Noble proven, concluding he would have been dismissed had he not already quit.
The specific details of Mr Noble's gross misconduct cannot be reported due to restrictions imposed by the panel.
Mr Noble will be placed on the barred list, preventing him from future employment in policing and other law enforcement bodies.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is continuing to investigate “other allegations” against Mr Noble, “both in and outside of his policing duties”, and is advocating for an overhaul of the selection process for senior police officers.
