Internet reacts to Mayor Mamdani speaking multiple languages to promote new campaign

  • Created in partnership with the non-profit Theatre Development Fund, the initiative offers 2,100 free tickets across seven Broadway productions to local high school students.
  • The ticket lottery opened on August 13 and closed on August 17, with the final drawing scheduled for September 1.
  • Prominent online figures and brands, including actress Rachel Zegler and language app Duolingo, commended Mamdani for his impressive linguistic talent and accurate pronunciation.
  • Mamdani, who moved to New York at age seven, studied Mandarin in high school and frequently uses multiple languages such as Arabic, Hindi, and Urdu on the campaign trail.
