The annual Central/Zen International Watch Fair has been running for two decades, each year with a large, engaging display of timepieces providing watch lovers with an update on new designs and mechanisms.
Involving 180 brands, this year's edition, the 20th overall, began on Tuesday at Central Chidlom's Event Hall, which is the centre stage for showcasing 2018 novelties, including those launched at SIHH and BaselWorld.
The most expensive or unique models were presented in a fashion show titled "The Innovations Of Time", which was also the grand opening's highlight.
Actor Nadech Kugimiya wore the Franck Muller full-diamond Vanguard Gravity priced at 7,552,000 baht, while actress Urassaya Sperbund had the Fabergé Summer in Provence costing 17,950,000 baht around her wrist.
Other exceptionally pricey pieces include the Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition 100 and the Grand Seiko Calibre 9S 20th Anniversary Limited Edition (see box).
The watch fair, however, is not only about luxurious or sophisticated models. It covers the whole bandwidth, including the latest smart watches and fashionable designs, to cater to different tastes, lifestyles and budgets.
