Institute 0 Linfield 3: Three penalties as Blues claim maximum reward at Brandywell

Linfield were awarded three penalties as they claimed maximum points at the Brandywell.

David Healy's Blues bounced back from their Champions Cup disappointment with a 3-0 victory over 10-man Institute in the early kick-off on Saturday.

The game was defined by three spot-kicks awarded by referee Raymond Crangle - but the visitors only scored two of them.

Andrew Waterworth was successful with his two attempts but Joel Cooper had his saved.

Bastien Hery added a third goal from normal play to leave Linfield fourth in the table.

Cooper's penalty miss came in the 33rd minute after referee Crangle had judged the Blues winger to have been tripped by Morrow inside the box.

But Cooper's attempt was smothered by Institute keeper Rory Brown.

Morrow was then shown a straight red card for an of-the-ball incident with Jimmy Callacher which led to the second penalty which Waterworth converted with a cool Penenka-style finish.

French midfielder Hery doubled the lead before the break, showing some neat skill on the edge of the box before curling home a superb right-foot shot into the corner of the net.

Institute rallied in the second half with Joe McCready forcing a couple of impressive save out of Rohan Ferguson.

Linfield had a goal disallowed when Kirk Millar and Institute keeper Brown went for Waterworth's cross.

The ball ended up in the net but the goal was ruled out for a foul on Brown.

Linfield were awarded their third penalty in injury time which Waterworth converted to wrap up the 3-0 win.
