Instagram users complain after checking their notifications

Instagram users are not happy after being inundated with unwanted notifications.

The social networking app allows its users to share pictures and videos with their friends, but some use the platform for less wholesome reasons.

App users have noticed a pattern emerging in their notifications this week.

It's because of a new scam, which mainly targets users in the comments section, telling users that they've won a brand new iPhone 13 Max Pro phone.

The comment then urges the user to follow an account in order to make contact with the organisers of the giveaway.

Some people are getting the notification over and over again.

Taking to Twitter to complain, Bethany Squirrell said: "I appreciate people wanting to give me free iPhone 13s on Insta but if I get mentioned in one more IPhone ‘giveaway’ am going to kick off mate.

"I must have had about 15 this week."

Laraine Hudson said: "Strange, I can’t win a penny on the #Lottery even when I buy a ticket, but hey presto I’ve won 2x I phone 13 on #Instagram"

MindOfAthenaa said: "Just won my 15th iPhone in the last week #annoyed"

Steve McD said: "Just won my 3rd #iphone13 on #Instagram. What a time to be alive! Can't wait and see what else I will win tomorrow! Here's hoping another phone. Can never have enough."

The ECHO has approached Instagram for comment.
