Instagram down as users struggle to access their accounts

Online photo-sharing and social network Instagram has stopped working.

Users have reported that the app is down and that they are unable to use it as usual.

Those trying to use the app version of Instagram are complaining that the news feed won't refresh, direct messages will not send and comments can't be posted.

Many are also claiming that they can't access Instagram at all.

More than 7,000 people have reported the outage on Downdetector, a website that tracks which services are down or having problems.

An error message is appearing on some people's app which says that there is an issue with the social media service.

It reads: "We're sorry, but something went wrong. Please try again."

One user commented: "I'm glad I'm not alone."

Another added: "Logged out, uninstalled, re-installed, now can't even login. Duh."

While a third said: "Apparently no one no longer has a feed...I thought it was my WiFi"

User Chelsea said: "Still couldn’t refresh feed they are probably updating it again."
