Inside Travelodge hotels on Merseyside that have been given a 'luxury' new look

Travelodge is transforming 60 of its hotels, including two in Merseyside, to give them a new “budget-luxe” feel and design.

The new Travelodge design includes the “low cost efficiencies” the brand is known for, but has added “thoughtful, stylish design and homely touches” to the hotels. It has a new navy blue brand colour, paying homage to the first Travelodge - a colour chosen for its calming and uplifting qualities.

The reception areas have been given a “classic elegant style” and each hotel has a Bar Café with a “contemporary design”. The bedrooms have been created to utilise the new signature navy blue colour in the “R&R” (resting and relaxing) section of the room, with a “serene colour palette” used in the functional side of the room to work and get ready.

Hotel rooms include a desk and chair, a “cosy” statement armchair, a TV with Freeview, blackout curtains and complimentary tea & coffee making facilities. There's also LED lighting in the room and bathroom, plus guests receive complimentary WIFI for 30 minutes (it then costs £3 for 24 hours).

The Travelodge budget-luxe design also includes a number of sustainable initiatives, including the new carpet being made from recycled fishing nets and the carpet backing is also made of old plastic bottles. Other sustainable features include low energy lighting, motion sensing controls and aerated showers and taps.

Travelodge aims to roll out its new budget-luxe design across its UK estate, starting with a multi-million pound investment to upgrade 60 hotels this year. This includes two branches in Merseyside; Liverpool Central The Strand and New Brighton, Wirral.

Craig Bonnar, Travelodge Chief Executive said: “Travelodge has been a trailblazer within the UK hotel sector since it opened the UK’s first budget hotel in 1985. Today we are once again evolving by launching a new budget-luxe premium look and feel hotel design whilst maintaining our great value price proposition.

“This is our most radical transformation to date and has been created in response to ever increasing expectations from customers. Britain is now a nation of budget travellers, with more of us choosing to stay in budget hotels than any other hotel type and thoughtful, stylish design and homely touches really matter in today’s world when staying away for business or leisure.”

Travelodge room rates start from £32 and can be booked online here.
