Inside Strictly star Tony Adams' and Katya 'row rumours' after their frosty farewell

Last night's Strictly saw Tony Adams shock announcement as he withdrew from the competition due to injury after he was place in the bottom two with dance partner Katya Jones.

But viewers back home couldn't help but pick up on the 'clearly frosty' farewell as the the Russian pro-dancer — who herself has brushed herself off from scandals and divorce in the past — and former footballer Adams in their final remarks.

Adams is first to admit it had been 'tough' as he appeared 'exhausted' on Saturday before giving a message promoting 'mental health and addiction awareness'.

Let's take a look inside their partnership on the show and what they've said about 'fall outs' and 'feuds'.

'We don't like each other'

After two months in training together Tony opened up about his attitude to 'mistakes' and how he clashed with Katya over their approach.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain he explained:"And sometimes when I miss a step, sometimes she’s a little bit over critical and I just want to have a good time as well."

GMB host Ed Balls, who was partnered with Jones on the show in 2016, said: "But she always thinks you can do better, and that makes you better."

Adams added: “So I think it’s a balance between maybe letting me make a mistake and enjoying myself a little bit at times… I’m not an expert in this field.”

To which Jones joked: “We just don’t like each other at all, we don’t get on!”

200% praise not possible

As an untrained dancer Tony admits he found the pressure of performing on the live shows intense.

He told how he was in tears after he scored 15 out of 40 in week one.

He shared: 'When that first dance went the way it did, in the car home, I’m going, "This is tough, what am I doing?"'

Adding that he finds the criticism from the show's judges tough, Katya said: ''Tony requires about 200 per cent praise, which is not possible in this very intense learning process.''

Team talks and 'telling off'

Speaking on Strictly Spin-off It Takes Two Adams admits how Katya came into his dressing room and 'told him a few home truths'.

Adams told host Rylan Clark: 'I was full of fear beforehand. We had a team talk.

"She [Katya] came into my dressing room after our dress rehearsal and told me a few home truths about me holding back.

''I think she admits it could have gone either way. I could have thrown my toys out of the pram and gone home.

''But I fought back the fear and just kind of went for it.''

Katya later admitted she 'took a risk' to give Tony a 'telling off' but she said 'it definitely paid off'.

Reflecting on what happened Tony admitted he wasn't used to being confronted and had to go far back in his football career to come up with a comparision.

He told Rylan: 'The last time I've been told off like that was by George Graham and I left the dressing room. I said ''that's not for me anymore, I'm going.''

Interruption Jibes

Tony and Katya were placed in the bottom by public, alongside Tyler West and Dianne Buswell, but before the dance off, it was announced that Tony was leaving Strictly due to an injury.

But during their farewell remarks Katya couldn't hide her frustration as he interrupted her, leading Katya to say: "And yet again, interrupting me when I was talking."

Tony then laughed and wrapped his arms around her shoulders.

'Exceptional human being'

The final words Tony had to say on the subject of his dance partner could be read in many different ways, not necessarily complimentary.’

She’s an exceptional human being’ was Tony’s comment."

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6:40pm on BBC One.
