Inside one of UK's cheapest homes selling for just £35,000 - and it's very bright inside

This two-bed house - the cheapest on property site Zoopla - is on the market for just £35,000 but the choice of interior design has divided opinion online.

The walls in every room of the property have each been painted different bright colours, including luminous green and an acidic pink.

But it's half a mile from a train station and in the heart of a bustling town.

Zoopla’s cheapest house criteria excluded Help to Buy, shared ownership, leasehold properties and homes listed on auction websites.

And this one, which is in Hartlepool, County Durham, is just over a tenth of the cost of the average UK house price. Land Registry data states this is £265,668 currently.

Property prices have soared over the past year - up to £100,000 in some areas.

This property in Hartlepool though has two bedrooms, one bathroom on the ground floor and a lounge.

It also has an open plan kitchen and dining area and a back garden too.

But photos of the brightly coloured rooms, including the bold red kitchen, have sparked debate online.

One Facebook user wrote: "What about this for an investment?"

Another posted: "It's a bargain."

A third stated: "Found us a house maybe."

But another posted on Facebook : "The choice of different bright colours for each room is... interesting."

A woman shared: Have you seen the area it’s in - I wouldn’t waste the money."

Photos suggest there is no driveway at the home on a residential road less than half a mile from the town's main shopping area and near a large Asda supermarket.

The choice of colours has split opinion online (Jones Estate Agents/Zoopla)

According to Jones Estate Agents, who are marketing the property, it’s “considered ideal for a first time buyer”.

The house is also double-glazed and comes with gas central heating, which means it should keep warmer in colder months and be cheaper to heat.

The estate agent recommends potential buyers should pay for a survey on the house.

This should flag any structural and building issues with the property - which could cost thousands to fix if the problems are serious.

Hartlepool is around a 50-minute drive to Newcastle, Tyne and Wear.
