Inside Justin Bieber's glamorous Gleneagles golfing holiday

The driech weather didn’t dampen Justin Bieber’s spirits as he played a round of golf at Gleneagles Hotel, the five-star resort on the edge of Scottish highlands.

Bieber, 31, was spotted by fans as he flew into Dundee airport via private jet on Thursday. His reason for visiting Scotland soon became apparent as the singer took to Instagram to document his relaxing golf holiday with his entourage including photographer Rory Kramer.

He drove a golf buggy around at least one of the resort’s three tournament-standard golf courses, took afternoon tea in the hotel, and treated guests to a piano rendition of Walking Away from his new album Swag.

The latest post on his Instagram shows the star posing with a bottle of Innis & Gunn beer on the streets of St Andrews.

Bieber previously joked in an interview about quitting the music industry to focus on golf, and has since been spotted practicing his swing at the ultra-exclusive Madison Golf Club in California, where he lives with wife Hailey Bieber and their baby son Jack Blues Bieber.

Hailey and their 13-month-old appear to have stayed stateside while the Canadian singer took his golfing trip with some male friends.

Bieber dressed for the damp Scottish weather in a Gleneagles branded jacket, bobble hat and wraparound sunglasses. For his impromptu performance he changed into a large red oversized hoodie.

Bieber got another 18 holes of golf in at the Castle Course in St Andrews, where his group braved the gusts of Storm Amy, which left 42,000 Scottish homes temporarily without power.

Castle Course is one of three golf courses being used for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship 2025, a golfing event that pairs top professional golfers with celebrities. Play had to be suspended on Saturday due to the stormy weather.

Actor Catherine Zeta-Jones is playing the the tournament, along with singer Ronan Keating and tennis star Andy Murray. It’s unclear if Bieber is competing or just practicing his game during a starry golf weekend.

The hitmaker seemed undeterred by the inclement weather, grinning for the camera and poking his tongue out while showing off his current full beard and buzzcut combo.

Gleneagles has welcomed a host of celebrity guests over the 100-plus years it’s been running, including Sean Connery, John Travolta and the late Queen Elizabeth II, who even has a golf course at the hotel named after her.

Oasis famously downed half pints of expensive brandy and smoked cigars at the Gleneagles bar before treating music bigwigs at the Sony Music Conference hosted there in 1994 to a boozed-up rendition of I Am The Walrus. Rod Stewart spent Hogmanay 2024 at Gleneagles and endeared himself to the staff by leaving a whopping £10,000 tip.

The five-star Perthshire hotel has plenty of luxury amenities set in its 850 acres of land, including 205 rooms, 28 suites, a spa, shooting and fishing facilities, plus 11 restaurants and bars — including Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, one of just two two-Michelin-star eateries in Scotland.

It’s the perfect place to escape the prying eyes of the paparazzi, a part of the celebrity world that Bieber has a fairly contentious relationship with.

The singer has recently been forced to fend off a lot more press intrusion due to his one-time friendship with the artist P Diddy, aka Sean Combs. Bieber gave an official statement that he was “not among Sean Combs’ victims”, clarifying that photos of them together were taken while he was friendly with Diddy’s sons.

Combs has just been sentenced to four years and two months in jail for prostitution-related charges.
