Inside Gwyneth Paltrow's LA mansion with wellness spa, £22k showerheads and London décor

Gwyneth Paltrow has been showing off her incredible LA mansion.

After designing and working on the California property for six years, the Goop founder, 49, has been showing off the results of her hard work.

The mum-of-two describes her breathtaking Montecito mansion as "a Parisian apartment set within an old European barn" with high ceilings and lots of light "that feels generous yet manageable at the same time".

Appearing on the cover of the March issue of Architectural Digest, Gwyneth gave the monthly magazine a full guided tour of the stunning home she shares with her husband, writer-producer Brad Falchuk.

The happy couple bought the house for $5M in 2017 but rebuilt the space "from the ground up" - something the Oscar winner describes as "a long and arduous journey".

Gwyneth was visiting the Santa Barbara area with family in 2015 when she spotted a teardown on real estate listing site Redfin, which she calls her "favourite pornography app."

"The strength of the house is in the subtleties of light and space," the actress explains in the feature.

"We spent a lot of time assessing family patterns, how we really live, what makes us most comfortable. The focus was on the experience, the emotion."

The star's exquisite abode features a lavish kitchen, a "show-stopping" living room, and one very impressive bathroom area.

Gwyneth's very own spa includes a $30k + (around £22,000) shower system, hot tub and plunge pool that Shakespeare in Love star argues is essential for "good circulation".

Inspired by a spa in Paris called Bain de la Marais, the staggering space boasts faucets that retail upwards of $30,796, and are made by R.W. Atlas.

The star's personal touches run throughout the home, and the interior design features plenty of nods to Gwyneth's time living in London with ex-husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin.

"I think having spent so much time as an ex-pat in Europe, and really falling in love with Georgian proportions, and those kind of details, I really wanted the entryway to feel like its own special room," the Goop guru explained when showing off the hallway.

"And so with the architects we conceived of having a fireplace, which is something you see a lot in Europe in an entryway, and just gives this really nice feeling of warmth and welcome as you come in."

Elsewhere in the single-story home, a mix of classic and contemporary features fill the "furniture obsessive" star's property - including a luxurious indoor hammock.

If Gwyneth is looking to score some points from eco-friendly home admirers, she will be sure to mention the entire property is solar-powered and has an environmentally friendly gray-water system.

Gwyneth sees having an open-plan kitchen as very important (Architectural Digest)

During her cover star interview, Gwyneth also explained why she loves an open-plan kitchen, so she can cook and chat to her children, Apple Martin, 17, and Moses Martin, 15, from her first marriage to her musician ex.

"My son's favourite recipe that I make is turkey meatballs or turkey ragout," the star confessed when chatting all things culinary.

"And my daughter loves when I make—they're pasta lovers—I think her favourite is either this lemon Parmesan pasta that I make her or a spicy marinara. Very easy!"

The kitchen is very important to cookbook author Gwyneth (Architectural Digest)

The kitchen may be super important to cookbook author Gwyneth, but it's not her best-loved space in her lavish home.

The stylish star's favourite room in the entire property is the powder room, thanks to a breathtaking "hand-done antiqued mirror" and hand-painted wallpaper.
