Inside Cynthia Nixon’s lush summer garden: A fragrant, bountiful oasis that proves why this season is the best time to plant

Cynthia Nixon.

We have to say, summer is perhaps the most joyous (and abundant) time of year to tend to tend to our gardens. With ample sunshine and plenty of seasonal fruits and vegetables to choose from, now is, in many ways, peak time to experiment with different crops.

Cynthia Nixon's garden is proof of this theory. The ...And Just Like That star recently shared a tour of her outdoor space to Instagram, and between her robust vegetable beds and florals, it's a haven.

It's also proof that companion planting matters, as she explains about her pear tree. 'This is our pear tree,' she states in the clip. 'It does give fruit, but it would do so much better if it had a mate.'

However, it still bears lush fruit, and is complemented by a sweet-smelling floral.

'Well, I've been out here for a while,' she says. I redid this whole bed. I got a lot of flowers that we're gonna plant in the next few days. We have honeysuckle, that was all over here. I saved a little honeysuckle to put in a vase, and it smells so nice!'

She then takes us through her vegetable area, which, if we say so ourselves, is a one-stop salad shop.

'Tomato plants over here, different kinds: Cherry, Zebra, big ones, we've got sorrel,'she says. 'I've got red lettuce and green lettuce, they're just seeds blown from last year. This is basil, this is lemongrass, these are jalapenos, this is swiss chard. Still gotta plant edamame and butternut squash, and onions.'
