Inside Arsenal-bound David Luiz's row with Frank Lampard - dating back to 2013

David Luiz's relationship with Frank Lampard soured long before the pair reunited at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Luiz, 32, is heading back out of Chelsea in an £8m switch to London rivals Arsenal .

The Brazilian looked set to start the season at the heart of the Chelsea defence but was reportedly banished from training by new boss Frank Lampard.

The Telegraph reports relations between Luiz and Lampard have deteriorated with the defender becoming a disruptive influence.

He was told to train away from the first-team squad ahead of the opener with Manchester United and will now complete a surprise switch to Arsenal.

Luiz and Lampard were involved in a bust-up way back in 2013 during their respective first spells at the club.

Chelsea were beaten 3-2 by Rubin Kazan in the Europa League, with Lampard clashing with his teammate over his defensive responsibilities.

The former England midfielder was seen jabbing his finger into Luiz's chest, with the pair clashing as they made their way off the pitch.

Yossi Benayoun was even forced to act as peace maker with boss Rafa Benitez publicly discussing the incident.

"It’s always good to have players arguing about things that happen on the pitch, so you can correct these things at half-tim.

"We were talking about that, adjusting positions, so it’s fine."

Luiz would spend another season at Stamford Bridge before joining PSG for a world-record £50m fee, with Lampard also leaving the club in the summer of 2014.

He made his return under Antonio Conte two years later and won the Premier League title but despite insisting he was happy earlier this summer, another exit beckons.
