Injuries reported after two M4 crashes in one day

Injuries have been reported after two separate crashes took place on the same stretch of the M4 today (Wednesday, September 30).

Wiltshire Police have confirmed they were called to two separate incidents just over an hour apart on the M4 between J17 Chippenham and J18 Bath this afternoon.

The crashes closed both carriageways on the M4 causing lengthy delays in the area as emergency services responded.

The first crash was between Leigh Delamere services and J18 at 11.16am when a car travelling eastbound collided with the central reservation.

No serious injuries were reported.

The second crash happened at 12.26pm and was between three vehicles just before J17.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "One man sustained facial injuries while a woman sustained an arm injury. Both believed to be minor injuries."

Inrix, the travel monitoring site, is reporting that lane closures on both carriageways lane three are expected to remain in place overnight.
