An injured hillwalker was airlifted to safety and rushed to hospital following an incident on Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh.
Emergency services raced to the popular beauty spot at roughly 4pm on Tuesday, April 4, after receiving reports of a casualty on the hillside.
Both the Scottish Ambulance Service and Maritime and Coastguard Agency attended the scene, with a recovery helicopter also called in to assist, Edinburgh Live reports.
The chopper was seen circling the extinct volcano several times before winching the injured person to safety.
After touching down at a secure landing site, the casualty was taken by ambulance to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Their current condition is unknown.
A spokesperson for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: "HM Coastguard responded to a request from the Scottish Ambulance Service for assistance at Arthur’s Seat at approx. 4.35 pm yesterday (4 April).
"South Queensferry, Fisherrow and Dunbar Coastguard Rescue Teams were sent, alongside the Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick. The casualty was transported to a helicopter landing site for onward travel to hospital by ambulance."
The Scottish Ambulance Service has also been approached for comment.
