Initial Saints injury report for Week 2 at Rams

The New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams headline the series of NFL games for Week 2 of the regular season, with a nationally-broadcast kickoff set for Sept. 15.

On Wednesday, the Saints and Rams each released their first injury reports of the week, which will be updated twice before their game — the first update will come on Thursday, and the final injury report will be published on Friday.

One situation to monitor is the return of starting defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins. Rankins went down back in January with a ruptured Achilles tendon, but attacked his recovery with enthusiasm and is now ahead of schedule. The Saints reportedly don’t expect him to be close to game-ready until Week 4 at the soonest, but he’s defied expectations before.
