Indore: Interstate gang of thieves busted by GRP, four held

INDORE: Government Railway Police (GRP) on Friday busted an interstate gang of thieves and arrested four persons involved in over two dozen cases of stealing mobile phones and other valuables from train passengers.

The arrested persons ---Kishore Dodi ram, Kiran Singh, Vicky Selke, and Dheeraj – are residents of Maharashtra.

Gold ornaments including a bangle, four earrings, a chain, a ring and Rs15,000 cash were recovered from them.

The police said that the accused used to come in a four-wheeler, park it at Indore station and board trains to steal valuables from passengers.

They used to target long-distance trains like Indore-Kochel Express and Jaipur-Chennai Express.

“While scanning footage of CCTV cameras installed on railway station premises, a group of people were spotted going in a four-wheeler. On the basis of vehicle’s registration number, movement of which was recorded on Ujjain Road, and mobile number used for payment at toll plaza, the accused were traced and arrested,” GRP Indore in-charge MA Sayyad said.

He said that the accused, during questioning, confessed about their involvement in over two dozen cases of theft of valuables from train passengers.
