INDORE: An autorickshaw driver, suspected to be a serial molester, and his accomplice were arrested after they allegedly molested a girl near GDC College area of Indore, police said on Tuesday. It was the girl’s courage that ended the accused’s year-long run of terror.
“Auto-driver Md Shahid, a resident of Kabutar Khana, was involved in over a dozen incidents of harassment and inappropriate behaviour with college girls and women,” additional DCP Prashant Choubey told TOI, adding that the offences were not reported as the survivors could not identify him.
On January 27, police had arrested a man for allegedly passing derogatory comments and committing obscene acts in front of women in the area. Students of GDC College informed police that an auto-driver had also been harassing them for almost a year, but they weren’t able to identify him as he would target each woman only once, said Choubey.
On Monday, a student was walking towards the college when two persons, including an auto-driver, started to stalk her, said police. They tried to talk to her, but she did not respond.
