INDORE: Indian Institute of Management- Indore (IIM-I) has inaugurated a newly- developed sound garden — Anunaad — to mark World Music Day on Tuesday.
Spread across 12,000 square feet area, the garden has special wind chimes sourced from SVARAM Institute of Musical Instruments and Research Center Auroville, Tamil Nadu. The sound produced by these wind chimes is different from the ones available in the city as these are made from a specific metal.
“Wind chimes at sound garden produce a powerful energy flow in environment with their natural sounds, thereby enchanting environment with cheerful, positive, and happy vibes. When one listens to them carefully, they can hear the sound of Om,” IIM-Indore director Dr Himanshu Rai told TOI. “The mesmerizing amalgamation of nature and sound is bound to rejuvenate our minds, help de-stress and find solace in the beautiful garden. This garden is an ideal place for meditating, reflecting, introspection or merely enjoying the beauty of nature, he added. There are nine special wind chimes, which have been set up in the garden. Besides trees, there are over 5000 ornamental and fragrant plants, including roses, jasmine, night queen and chrysanthemum. The plants set up in the garden are from nursery of the institute.
Majority of the material used in the garden is recycled construction waste material from campus. “We have manure production plant and wet waste management plant on campus itself, the output of which is used as manure,” said Rai. IIM-I also boasts of a spiritual garden, a zen garden and an organic garden on its campus.
