Indoor activities across Belfast to keep the kids entertained in the rain

It wouldn't be Northern Ireland if it wasn't bucketing out of the heavens in the height of summer.

With rainstorms and weather warnings galore, we can hardly say we are surprised but no doubt the kids are disappointed as their summer break kicks off.

Not to worry - we as a country are built for this type of weather so there are plenty of fun ways to keep the kids entertained when there is rain on the doorstep.

We've put together a list of ideas for you to keep occupied with the family over the summer when the weather is not what you would hope for:

Ulster Museum

Located at Botanic Gardens in Belfast, the Ulster Museum is a fascinating, educational yet exciting space to explore for the whole family.

Has collections of art, history and natural sciences with learning opportunities for kids.

We are Vertigo

Activity centre with a 30,000 square-foot inflatable play area, indoor ski slopes and climbing walls.

Based in Newtownbreda and at Titanic Park in Belfast City, it is a great place to burn off some energy while having a fun day out.

Dundonald International Ice Bowl

A great option to keep the whole family entertained is to go ice skating at Dundonald Ice Bowl.

It's close to Belfast and is Northern Ireland’s only public Olympic size ice rink.

W5

Located at Queen's Quay, and after 20 years as a family favourite, W5 has been completely reimagined with a £4.5million investment last year.

With over 250 interactive exhibits for the whole family, it is one of the city's most enjoyed spaces for kids.

Lost City Adventure Golf

Andersonstown Indoor Aqua Park

Attractions here include the first-ever drop slide in Ireland and Surf Belfast, Northern Ireland's first indoor surf simulator.

For the younger thrill seekers, there's the Aqua Play area, a huge fun zone for under 12s complete with a water tipping bucket, slides and water cannons.

There's also shallow confidence water for toddlers to take their first steps in the water.

Prison Island

Like an escape room but with 25 cells that require a combination of intellectual, technical and physical skills that will have them thinking, doing and laughing.

The Prison Island adventure is cooperative and you enter the cells together to pass the test.
