KOLKATA: The Indian Army distributed solar lamps and streetlights to the villagers of Braigong village at Anjaw district in Arunachal Pradesh as part of the project Op Samaritan.
An Indian army media release stated the villagers faced great hardship due to the lack of electrification and that with the facility of solar lights, life will become safer and improve the standard of living and education for the local residents after the Dao Gunners of Dao Division, Spear Corps distributed the lights.
“The village elders thanked the Army for its thoughtful initiative and assistance. They shared that this was a great gift to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. This helping hand by the army will further strengthen the bonds with locals. Local youth assist the army and are eager to serve the nation,” the release stated.
Located at the easternmost part of Arunachal Pradesh, the district has two international borders – with China and with Myanmar. Majority of the population of the district are dependent on agriculture and allied sectors. The village Brigang is away from the road located in Goiliang Circle of the district.
Home of numerous turbulent streams, roaring rivers, hundreds of waterfalls, snow-clad mountains and thousands of rare species of flora and fauna, the district is one of the most beautiful places in the world. With its lush hills, deep valleys of Himalayas, turbulent rivers flowing down the verdant hills and virgin forests and a number of foot suspension bridges on the rivers, Anjaw is a place of serenity and quiet.
