India vs Sri Lanka: Injured Nuwan Thushara ruled out of T20I series

NEW DELHI: Due to a finger injury sustained during training, Sri Lanka pacer Nuwan Thushara will not play in the forthcoming three-match T20 International series against India.

The 29-year-old suffered a left thumb injury on Wednesday during a training session while fielding, according to PTI.

Despite the fact that the injury occurred to his non-bowling arm, it is serious enough to keep him out of the three Twenty20 Internationals, which begin in Pallekele on Saturday.

Fellow pacer Dilshan Madushanka has been named as replacement.

The injury to Thushara is a serious blow to the hosts. The bowler had been playing well lately; at the T20 World Cup last month, he finished as the team's top wicket-taker.

With the best figures of 4/18, he had taken eight wickets at an economy of 5.62 in his three games.

Asitha Fernando replaced Dushmantha Chameera, who was forced out of the squad due to sickness, and Thushara became the second Lankan pacer to be ruled out of the series.
