Independent Derry is celebrating reaching its 100th business joining the local discount scheme.
Since 2016, Independent Derry has teamed up with local businesses across the city with exclusive promotions and offers for their card holders.
From coffee shops, to bars and restaurants, to gift and craft shops, Independent Derry has given local businesses a platform to connect and offer incentives to support local.
A firm Derry favourite has now joined the Independent Derry team as its 100th local business.
Peadar O'Donnell's, an Irish bar situated on the city's Waterloo Street, has become the 100th Independent Derry business, as was announced last night.
In an Instagram post, Independent Derry said: "We are so over the moon to announce this truly special place to the card! Adored by both locals and visitors, renowned around the world for hosting traditional live music, pouring great pints and the historic memorabilia, flags and more that cover the walls and ceiling.
"Peadar's was the first business in the city to shut its doors as the pandemic struck, a frightening day that no one will forget. But now the sound of live music fills the bar once again, pints of stout are being poured and the hustle and bustle of people has returned.
"We do not know anyone who doesn't love Peadars or has not made a memory or two in this pub. Here's to many more!"
Independent Derry is a much-loved initiative that has helped to bring the life back into local businesses reopening after repeated lockdowns.
On their announcement, Independent Derry said: "Thank you so much to each and every person, business and cardholder who has continued to support this initiative. Reaching 100 is a milestone for me and makes me proud to have created something that so many businesses want to be part of."
Independent Derry cards can be purchased online, via the app or website, or can be purchased at The Gift Box, Evolve Menswear or Number 19 Craft and Design.
