Incredible car park chase as robber with hammer pursues security guard before smashing open cash box

This is the moment an armed robber chases a security guard around a car park before smashing his way into a cash box with a hammer.

The guard was leaving a store in Derby after making a cash collection, before a black GLA class Mercedes pulled up alongside him.

The thug chased the guard with a hammer (Derbyshire Constabulary)

Armed with a hammer, the thug jumped out of the car before chasing the guard in circles around the car park.

After a short chase, the guard dropped the cash box, leaving the robber free to smash it open and escape with a ‘significant amount of cash’.

As the guard walked out of the shop a black GLA class Mercedes pulled up alongside him (Derbyshire Constabulary)

The black Mercedes was then dumped before the criminals got into an older, red coloured Mercedes.

Detectives investigating the incident want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the incident.
