In Malibu's Point Dume, Cher's onetime home asks nearly $10 million

Nov. 26--The onetime home of superstar performer Cher is on the market in Malibu's Point Dume area for $9.975 million.

The singer-actress bought the property in 1990 for $4 million and, with the help of designer Ron Wilson, redesigned and expanded the house to nearly double its original size. After shopping it for six years and breaking ground on a 15,000-square-foot home nearby, she would eventually sell the Mediterranean-style home to its current owners in 1999 for $3.65 million.

The walled-and-gated estate has a tropical vibe with indoor-outdoor living spaces, a swimming pool and spa and a lighted tennis court on more than an acre of palm-topped grounds.

Two floors of living space include a formal living room set beneath beamed ceilings and flanked by a row of French doors. Crisp white walls, skylights and stone and wood accents lend a calming note to the 8,800 square feet of living space.

Other public areas include a formal dining room, a media room, a family room and a center-island kitchen. The master suite has his and hers bathrooms, walk-in closets and a terrace patio for a total of six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

A detached gym/office adds another full bathroom.

Josh Goldstein of Douglas Elliman Real Estate holds the listing.
