Immigration centre job adverts dropped after criticism

  • These positions, with salaries ranging from £31,000 to £38,000, aimed to provide a stimulating environment and activities for residents.
  • Home Office minister Seema Malhotra expressed disapproval, stating the government did not believe all these roles were necessary and instructed Mitie to remove them.
  • Health minister Stephen Kinnock suggested that Mitie had made an "excessive interpretation" of contractual obligations regarding resident activities.
  • Despite the government's intervention, some of the advertised roles reportedly remain active on the official find-a-job portal.
