Good news for Barbie fans: it looks like an immersive Barbie movie experience is coming to London.
Deadline has reported that Secret Cinema and TodayTix, in collaboration with toy brand Mattel and Warner Bros, are in the final stages of securing a deal.
If it goes ahead, it’s believed Barbie’s Dream House will open in the summer.
It’s been two-years since Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar Barbie movie hit cinemas, starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken.

The experience will comprise of “theatrical performances, immersive sets where consumers can experience where BarbieLand stories take place, a BarbieLand Carnival, dancefloors, and themed food and drink”.
“We’re beyond excited to bring Greta Gerwig’s brilliant Barbie The Movie, inspired by Mattel’s Barbie brand to life in a way that only Secret Cinema can,” Merritt Baer, Artistic Director of Secret Cinema and co-founder of TodayTix, said.
“In collaboration with Mattel and Warner Bros., we’re inviting audiences to step through the iconic pink doors of BarbieLand – to sing, dance and celebrate together. It’s part-immersive experience, part-West End theatre and without a doubt, the best night out you’ll have all year.”
A similar tourist location has just opened in Amsterdam, where people can get their pictures taken at life-size Barbie sets.
It was reported in July the world’s most famous doll is heading back to cinemas – and she’s going animated.
Mattel has confirmed it is teaming up with Illumination, the animation powerhouse behind Despicable Me, to produce the first-ever animated Barbie movie for theatres.
Barbie has appeared in over 50 animated films since 2001, but those were direct-to-video or streaming offerings; this marks her first animated cinema outing, proving Barbie’s big-screen era is far from over.
Details are tightly under wraps for now, with Mattel, Universal and Illumination declining to comment further.
Barbie was a cultural earthquake when it landed two years ago, earning $1.3 billion globally.
That made the film Warner Bros.’ highest-grossing theatrical release ever, and scored eight Oscar nominations including Best Picture.
Before it became a phenomenon, even Robbie predicted its success, telling Collider she told the studio in the green-light meeting, “You’ve got Barbie and Greta Gerwig… it’ll make a billion dollars.”
